motivotion 60+ was a project funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in the framework of the Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) program. It ran from 2010 to 2012 and focused on the development of motivating sports games (exergames) for accident-prevention for seniors citizens. Korion’s major tasks were:

  • game design and development
  • realization of natural interaction (NI) for controlling the games with motion recognition

For the exergames we implemented a controller based on a Microsoft Kinect. Thus the seniors’ movements were used to control the games in real-time. Also each game’s difficulty scales according to the measures capabilities of the current user: a context-aware adaptation. An example are an increase in the the number and speed of obstacles in the flight game or the height of the stairs in the climbing game.
